Studies are currently under way by Manukau City and Papakura District Councils to investigate a new arterial route connecting Flatbush and Drury. This project, known as the Mill Road Corridor Study, is identified in the Auckland Regional Transport Authority’s (ARTA’s) Regional Arterial Road Plan 2009 and the Draft Auckland Transport Plan
The objective of the Mill Road Corridor is to:
- Provide an alternative arterial road to service growth in the South East; and
- To enhance security of access for Auckland by providing an alternative southern connection to SH1 that avoids key ‘pinch points’ on the State Highway network.
There will be a separate community consultation process on the Mill Road Corridor project in the near future. The Mill Road Corridor and the Drury South Business project are complementary and the Drury South Business project has the potential to deliver part of the corridor.
