The transport concept seeks to focus business traffic, including future quarry traffic, into the proposed business area and to the Ramarama and Drury interchanges via a realigned Quarry Road. This strategy would eliminate the need for this traffic to travel past community facilities such as the Ramarama School.
The key elements of the Concept road network are:
- A spine road running north-south through the site which has the potential to link the new Mill Road corridor.
- An improved connection to SH1 (north) through improvements to the existing route via Quarry Road, Great South Road and the Drury Interchange.
- A direct connection to SH1 at the Ramarama interchange to both serve the southern parts of the development and to provide the preferred route to SH1 for quarry trucks.
- Sections of Ramarama Road closed, at the southern and northern boundaries of the project area, to enable continuous buffer planting and eliminate quarry and business through traffic in this area
- Creation of a new east-west link through the development to provide direct access to and from the quarry to SH1, which will also keep business and quarry traffic off Ararimu Road. This would avoid site traffic passing the Ramarama School.
